About me

Jana - fotografie

My name is Jana (formerly Slavíková, now Lišková) and I help foreigners discover the beauty of the Czech language, break down communication barriers and successfully pass exams that open the door to life in the Czech Republic.

I started teaching in 2004. While studying at university, I earned extra money by teaching English: in kindergartens, in companies and at a private high school. In 2008 The turning point came – I started teaching Czech to foreigners and I immediately knew that it was the right thing for me. Soon I created my first website, podcasts and in 2011 launched its YouTube channel.

I love my job – it allows me to constantly broaden my horizons, be creative and meet interesting people. Thanks to them, I can look at my language, my culture and my country with different eyes. During my internship, I have already met students literally from all over the world, but I gained the most experience with students from Russian-speaking countries, from England or the USA, from Vietnam and Turkey.

I also tried it different types of teaching: private, through a language school or university; face-to-face and online; individual, paired, in a small group or in a large group; homogeneous and heterogeneous groups; Slavs and non-Slavs; at home, in the classroom or in a café; with or without an intermediary language; children, youth and adults; one-off, intensive, weekly and daily lessons. However, I most often have individual adult students and have been teaching only online since Covid.

Intercultural relations

I graduated with a master's degree. International Studies and Diplomacy on University of Economics in Prague and then I devoted myself to studying the field Migration and intercultural relations on University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.

I am currently completing my bachelor's degree in the field of Czech Philology for Practice on Technical University of Liberec. Returning to university after twenty years is an interesting experience! I have deepened my theoretical linguistic knowledge and also my knowledge of Czech literature.
